02 · What it does

Rectangle's toolkit, and Windows' habits

ShortcutsRectangle's defaults: ⌃⌥← ⌃⌥→ halves (press again for ⅔ and ⅓), ⌃⌥U I J K quarters, ⌃⌥D F G thirds, ⌃⌥↩ maximize, ⌃⌥⌘→ next display, ⌃⌥⌫ restore. Fourths, sixths, center, move. Click any shortcut in the menu to change it.
SnapDrag a window to the top edge to maximize, a side for half, a corner for a quarter, the bottom for a third, with a preview of where it lands. Drag it away and it gets its old size back.
Windows-styleCascade (all the same size, half the screen wide), Side by Side and Stacked, in one click.
Marks & priorityMark windows with ⌃⌥M, put them in order, choose a screen and a layout (grid, main + side and more), and ⌃⌥A arranges them. Number 1 gets the best place.
ArrangementsSave where every window is on every screen under a name, and bring it back from the menu.
SwitcherHold ⌃⌥ and turn the mouse wheel to flip through previews of every open window; let go to bring one forward.

Install in a minute

  1. 01

    Download and drag to Applications

    Elrange.dmg always points at the latest version.

  2. 02

    Allow it once

    Elrange is not signed with an Apple Developer ID yet, so macOS stops it the first time. Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

  3. 03

    Two switches

    Accessibility, so it can move windows (it doesn't read what's in them), and Screen Recording, only for the switcher's previews. Elrange shows you where.
